A Word from The Avett Brothers

Looking forward to their run of huge shows with Patton, the brothers share how amazed they are to perform alongside the Faith No More singer. Scott andd Seth grew up as the MTV generation, and were definitely shaped by the rock legacy of Patton's band.

"Mike’s part of our DNA, like the fabric of our youth," Scott shared in a press release. "Literally, we studied him. He’s a dear friend now, but when we were younger, I was imitating him. … This is what art is. This is what making it is supposed to be: in secret and with no ambition."

Well, the secret's out... the brothers manifested this very moment in time. Sharing the stage with one of their idols,  you can bet that they're letting it all out at their joint AVTT/PTTN tour. 

About the Album

While their music is pretty different from each other, the partnership was rooted in a "longtime mutual admiration between Patton and the Avett Brothers," as described by North State Journal. Creating something so unique and distinct from either catalog, it sure is clear why critics like Americana Highways call it an "Unexpected Alchemy". With nine songs on the list, the album packs a punch through a ride of emotions. 

"AVT/PTTN is about all the ways we vanish—into depression, into performance, into the roles others need us to play. The collaboration itself mirrors this theme: Patton disappears into the Avetts’ world while they disappear into his," wrote Mark Pelavin of Americana Highways.

"My peculiar challenge in this was to become a long distant cousin. A brother that was orphaned. Maybe they kept him in the chicken coop or some shit. They brought him out years and years later," Patton shared in a press release. 

Together, they all undeniably feel like brothers bonding over great music. Creating something so unique, they sure made some fine wine, especially in today's release radar. Taking the same truth in different ways, it's simply magical to see how these rootsy Americana tunes flow through rock, weaved by its dark tales.
