One doesn’t gain the title of one of the best bass players in the world just for giggles. You’ve got to be cooking, and Les Claypool does exactly that. Tapping, flamenco-ish strumming, whammy bar bends, thumpin’ and pluckin’ - he jams a fusion of them all and then some. The carpenter-gone-musician has really cemented himself properly in the history of music with a large number of projects during his career - from supergroup Oysterhead to Duo De Twang, from Les Claypool’s Fancy Band to Colonel Claypool’s Bucket of Bernie Brains, but if there are three you need to see at least once in your life, it would be his main-hustle Primus, Colonel Les Claypool’s Fearless Flying Frog Brigade, and his project alongside Sean Lennon, The Claypool Lennon Delirium. You’d be lucky to catch one of these live in concert, let alone all three! 

And that’s exactly what the Colonel has lined up for North America this summer with the one-of-a-kind tour Claypool Gold - all three projects sharing a stage with rotating setlists and a whole lot of surprises! Claypool Gold is slated to kick off in late May 2026 in Reno, Nevada, making stops in Redmond, Kansas City, Pelham, Saratoga Springs, St. Augustine, and San Diego before wrapping up in early July 2026 in Napa, California. 

Primus

Primus is synonymous with massively impressive technicality, unmatched creativity, and authenticity. Nobody can jam like them, nobody is as unpredictable as them, and nobody oozes guitar wizardry, humour, quirkiness, and funky and psychedelic sounds like them. Primus is Les Claypool’s first and foremost project, boasting epic hits such as My Name Is Mud, Jerry Was a Race Car Driver, and Wynona’s Big Brown Beaver. 

Colonel Les Claypool's Fearless Flying Frog Brigade

Colonel Les Claypool’s Fearless Flying Frog Brigade is the bassist’s 2000’s project, formed during a hiatus from Primus. The groove-heavy band comprises a rotating lineup, digging into an intricate blend of prog-funk with unique covers. Les Claypool has described the Frog Brigade as “kind of a King Crimson meets Pink Floyd meets Frank Zappa type thing.” The band boasts original face-melters and covers such as Pigs, Thela Hun Ginjeet, and Shine On You Crazy Diamond. 

The Claypool Lennon Delirium

An unlikely pairing between Sean Lennon and Les Claypool maybe? But they’re hell-ish fantastic! The Claypool Lennon Delirium has been hailed as “music so potent it could repel an asteroid from space”, and this couldn’t be more true. And the style - progadelic: a unique mixture between progressive rock and psychedelic. They boast weird and wonderful hits such as Little Fishes, Blood and Rockets: Movement I, Saga of Jack Parsons/Movement II, Too the Moon, and The Monolith of Phobos. 

The Arizona Financial Theatre

The Arizona Financial Theatre is gearing up for some pure, shining, rare Claypool Gold coming to Phoenix this summer! The venue is one of the nation’s biggest go-to’s for all things off-the-charts entertainment, and this year won’t be any different. Boasting state-of-the-art sound and lighting, superb acoustics, great sight-lines, modern amenities, and seating for up to 5,000 concertgoers spread across a main floor, VIP suites and boxes, club seating, and a balcony, the Arizona Financial Theatre is where the feast of funk, prog, psychedelia, and musical innovation will be served this summer!
